Simone E. Martin is currently the Deputy Director of the Anguilla Financial Services Commission, on secondment from the BVI Financial Services Commission as an experienced and professionally qualified financial services regulator with 18 years of varied, in-depth experience. This diverse experience encompasses prudential and AML/CFT supervision of licensees conducting fiduciary services, insurance, and investment business. Simone has materially contributed to legislative reform, the conduct of compliance inspections (primarily in relation to trust business and company management business), as well as shape the application of prudential and AML/CFT supervision. In addition, Simone contributed to the development of the International Standard on the Regulation of Trust and Corporate Service Providers, published in October, 2014 by the Group of International Finance Centre Supervisors (“GIFCS”) as a member of the TCSP Working Group. She also contributed to the development and conduct of GIFCS’s Supervisory Colleges for Trust and Corporate Service Providers and was appointed as Co-Chair of the first GIFCS Supervisory College. Her experience also includes participating in a mutual evaluation carried out under the FATF Recommendations as a Financial Expert, as well as provided input to the work of a number of FATF Working Groups. Simone holds a Masters degree in Business Administration, conferred at the University of the West Indies, and an undergraduate degree in Accounting conferred at the University of the Virgin Islands. In addition, her professional qualifications include being a Fellow of the International Compliance Association of the UK, a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, being permitted to use the TEP designation, and a Fellow of ICSA – The Chartered Governance Institute.
